橋本　雅司

１）簡単なキャリア（研究面・臨床面）
1982年に東京大学医学部医学科を卒業後、同大第二外科教室で研修いたしました。1983年からは三井記念病院の外科レジデントとなり日夜外科臨床に励みました。1988年に東京大学医学部付属病院第二外科教室に入局し、当時の出月康夫教授が御専門とした門脈圧亢進症の研究グループに所属させていただきました。食道胃静脈瘤の治療の主体が手術治療から内視鏡治療へ移行する過渡期で、日本門脈圧亢進症研究会と食道静脈瘤硬化療法研究会の２つの研究会が、1994年に門脈圧亢進症学会となった時期でした。その当時は犬を使った門脈圧亢進症モデルの実験と内視鏡的な硬化療法の研究などを平行してすすめていました。
1990年からは社会保険中央総合病院外科（現JCHO山手メディカルセンター）で勤務いたしました。1991年には国土典宏(前東京大学肝胆膵外科教授、現国立国際医療センター長）の後任として、アメリカのミシガン大学で肝臓、特に肝臓の再生を中心とする研究をする機会を得ました。直属の上司はSteven E. Raper教授で、ラットの肝部分切除術後の肝再生についての研究をin vivoとin vitro で平行して行いました。In vivoの動物実験では四塩化炭素投与による肝硬変ラットモデルを作成し、肝切除後の肝再生が障害されていることを定量的に示し、EGF,　TGFαなどの細胞増殖因子の投与によりその障害された肝再生が改善することを示しました。In vitroではラットで肝切除術後の様々な時間で肝細胞を分離し培養し、TGFαやSomatostatinなどの影響が肝再生初期のみにはたらくことを報告いたしました。当時、ミシガン大学では上司のSteven E. Raper教授も参加し、家族性高コレステロール血症に対するGene Therapy が試みられており、地元新聞誌上でも紹介されておりました。
1992年に帰国後は、再び社会保険中央総合病院外科に勤務した後、1993年東京大学医学部付属病院第二外科教室に助手として戻りました。大学では、アメリカ留学中のラットの肝再生の実験を再開するとともに、留学時代の研究成果で東京大学から医学博士をいただきました[細胞増殖因子による肝部分切除術後の再生促進効果についての検討]。
1994年より虎の門病院の消化器外科に勤務いたしました。虎の門病院に参りましたら、冲中記念成人病研究所があり、さらに動物実験舎もあり研究環境の良さに感銘をうえました。虎の門病院では消化器外科臨床に励むとともに、冲中記念成人病研究所の研究員として、文部省科学研究補助　基盤研究Ｃ　"肝部分切除後の肝機能総量の変化についての検討"　（1995年～1996年度　）、文部省科学研究補助　基盤研究Ｃ　"肝硬変症における肝切除術後の形態的肝再生および機能的肝再生についての検討"（1997年～1999年度　）などの公的な研究費をいただき研究を継続することができました。アメリカ～東京大学で実施していた動物実験を発展的に継続することができました。動物実験舎は本院の地下にあり、大学の施設よりも利便性が高く夜や臨床の合間に自由に実験することが可能でした。さらに院内の他科の方々と共同研究をさせていただき、数多くの論文の共著者にしていただきました。
臨床研究や動物実験では、九州大学生体防御医学研究所外科の森　正樹教授（現九州大学外科教授）と肝硬変～肝細胞癌の発がんついて先進的な共同研究させていただきました。　　また、当院の出身者でBostonのMITの星田有人教授との共同研究では、New England Journal of Medicine　のOriginal Articleの共著にしていただいたのは良い思い出です。
2009年からは国立がん研究センターを中心とする厚生労働省がん研究助成金研究（21分指―７⑤）　“肝胆膵外科手術手技の客観的評価と科学的根拠に基づいた有用性の検討および肝胆膵がんに対する低侵襲外科治療の確立”の多施設共同研究として臨床研究に参加してまいりました。
さらに2016年からは日本医療研究開発機構（Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development）の革新的がん医療実用化研究事業の中の“外科手術手技の客観的評価と科学的根拠に基づいた標準治療開発のための多施設共同第三相無作為化試験の確立” の多施設共同研究として臨床研究に参加しております。
